AI in business and the enterprise news:

Here’s news that caught our and Perplexity’s attention as notable stories over the last week:

  • Three insights you may have missed from theCUBE’s coverage of MWC25 (siliconANGLE, March 27, 2025)

    • AI-powered automation drives enterprise innovation.
Real-world AI use cases demonstrate tangible impact.
      Next-generation infrastructure accelerates digital transformation.

  • DeepMind has detailed all the ways AGI could wreck the world (Ars Technica, April 3, 2025)

    • If today's AI systems are on a path to AGI, we will need new approaches to ensure such a machine doesn't work against human interests.

Unfortunately, we don't have anything as elegant as Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics. Researchers at DeepMind have been working on this problem and have released a new technical paper (PDF) that explains how to develop AGI safely, which you can download at your convenience. …While some in the AI field believe AGI is a pipe dream, the authors of the DeepMind paper project that it could happen by 2030. With that in mind, they aimed to understand the risks of a human-like synthetic intelligence, which they acknowledge could lead to "severe harm."

  • An AI Model Has Officially Passed the Turing Test (h/t Superhuman AI, Futurism, April 2, 2025)

    • “"People were no better than chance at distinguishing humans from GPT-4.5 and LLaMa (with the persona prompt)," wrote lead author Cameron Jones, a researcher at UC San Diego's Language and Cognition Lab, in an X thread about the work. "And 4.5 was even judged to be human significantly more often than actual humans!"”

  • Early evidence shows AI scribes reduce burnout, but without financial improvement (Axios, March 27, 2025)

    • “AI-powered medical transcription tools are alleviating clinician burnout but not yet saving practices money or making care more efficient, according to a report from the Peterson Health Technology Institute.”

  • AI Experts Say We’re on the Wrong Path to Achieving Human-Like AI (Gizmodo, March 30, 2025)

    • ““Overall, the responses indicate a cautious yet forward-moving approach: AI researchers prioritize safety, ethical governance, benefit-sharing, and gradual innovation, advocating for collaborative and responsible development rather than a race toward AGI,” the report wrote.”
